Acquired Dreamweaver... and the start of some serious changes.
Well, after having recently obtained Dreamweaver to work on the new-and-mind-blowingly improved Vahevia.com, I don't exactly see any point in having any of the site's old news updates left in the archives. Forget the old site even existed people, and I mean that; Vahevia's web-site isn't the only thing that's undergoing massive changes since the last site saw an update, as the world's so damned different and changed, it'll be like an entirely different setting.

Site's development is comin' along nicely.
Man, Dreamweaver's unbelievable. This site's coming along enormously in format and scope (thanks to Dreamweaver's power, it's probably not even gonna take me a quarter of the time to finish this site's design then I would've with Frontpage!), so chances are it's going to be uploaded before the world's information and ecologies are complete. So when the site's finally uploaded, expect to see a lot of future updates detailing the setting's information.

Return from absence with kewl weapon descriptions.
Well, I admit I haven't been working on this site as much as I should be lately... although I *have* been fleshing out a lot of weapon descriptions (about time!), among a few other things, so I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have them added to the site's database right now.

Searching for Artists... Wouldn't mind some concept art once the site's uploaded
Writing I can handle; I've got no problems stringing words together to form a pretty kewl piece of writing. But when it comes to artwork, I've yet to find a living soul on this world whose artistic ability is worse then my own. Ergo, I would *really* appreciate those with the artistic talent I so horribly lack to contribute visualisations to compliment this site's articles. Because a campaign setting without artwork is all but barren; full details on requesting kind-hearted folks with an artist's blessing inside.

Oh, the pressure's on
*sigh* With the recent decline of the image host that'd been providing our blessed Fluid Fantasy forum with it's images, I'm now faced with even more pressure to try getting this site finished completely. And it doesn't seem like it's going to be ready for quite some time; and these news updates are all limited to mentioning the site's progress in some way. So until the site's finished, there really isn't going to be many updates (and none worth reading to those who don't bother with the design history of the site; and I don't blame 'em). Waaah (I'm also faced with difficulty trying to set up the news updates section in a script-based manner; long story).

So, it's come to this; uploading an incomplete site
Yeah, I know I've barely managed to complete enough of this site for it to be even remotely suited for uploading; but my Dad's pressuring me to upload *something* in order to get this new FTP client-thingie working; so anybody viewing this site shouldn't be shocked when they see what a total mess it's in. Expect some pretty damned heavy-duty updates (to both the setting's materials *and* the site's layout design) in the future. Lot's of 'em. And don't think this page is gonna be plain HTML laced with CSS forever; once I gain 2 ranks in the “Speak Language (PHP)” skill, I'm going to be converting this site to PHP format; trying to make entries such as this one in the site's news archive is like trying to build a fortress with household equipment. Anywho, read through what little there is of this site to read through, and enjoy!

Okay, now I've got a deadline.
Alright, now I'm hurrying to upload this site for an entirely different reason; schoolwork. Well, not "school"-work as such, but I'm a TAFE student who's currently studying a web-site design course, and for my final assessment, my TAFE teacher agreed to allow me to upload the site by way of finishing my course's taskwork. This is a great boon, considering the fact that my Dad's eager to have me upload the site after the poor man's had to pay for another year of uploading service whilst the first one's been wasted because I've been too focused on my other creative outlets to develop much of the site. *guilty* But now that I've actually got an impassable, demanding deadline to meet, I've GOT to get this site uploaded; and because I've gotta meet certain criteria, that means I'll be adding Flash elements, videos, guestbooks (or something that similarly displays an understanding of PHP-controlled adding, editing and deletion of data from a database). Let's get writin'.

I can't believe it! I actually finished the site!
Well, okay... not *all* of the site, but heck, I never thought I'd get enough of the site finished before Tuesday in order for it to pass the assessment (the teacher liked my work, but he's pretty easy-going with submission dates; so I can later finish the rest of the site that're meant to meet the assessment's criteria). But an entire afternoon of careful, meticulous graphics design (weaving the background images together with the most organic textures I could find), and an evening of mind-numbing scripting and markup arrangement sure paid off! Now, the site's uploaded with a bitchin' nature theme, and I struggled to make the visuals reflect Vahevia's nature-heavy atmosphere (as well as my own love of nature), without going overboard with decorative graphics (because seriously, graphic-heavy websites can take *ages* to load, even on a T1 connection, and I didn't want readers to have to sit through 3+-minutes of loading just to appreciate a bunch of graphics; Looks cool, but loading such sites is a pain in the kudah.) Anyway, I'm off to make further developments to the site; enjoy!

Okay, pardon the unrelated stuff, but...
I know this news update doesn't have anything to do with the Vahevian setting itself, but I felt I should make it clear to anybody reading the site that the following link contains materials that are entirely unrelated to Vahevia whatsoever, and explain why. As you know, I'm being assessed on this site for TAFE, and in order to meet the course's requirements, I need to demonstrate an understanding of Shockwave Flash, PHP Interractivity, and playing video files from inside a web-page. But because I don't know how to incorporate such elements and make them Vahevian-related, I've filed them off to a seperate page off the site, so my teacher can assess 'em and that readers won't have to wonder "What the hell is this crap?" To view the page displaying said multimedia elements, click *here*.
